Hello fellow UA members! I am Mark Master, the PIC (Person in Charge) of this lovely fly-in event on Sunday October 26 to Santa Ynez Airport (KIZA) and onward to the adjacent charming Danish town of Solvang. As Gerry had promised here are the details:
The plan at this time is to arrive into Santa Ynez Airport at 11:30am. From there we will Uber directly over to Solvang for noontime lunch at The Bit O’ Denmark Restaurant. There we will have an opportunity to sample an assortment of Danish delights (they also have optional American food and are also well known for their Monte Cristo sandwiches).
Afterwards we will spend a few hours exploring the town and all its magical splendor. If you’re into Danish butter cookies then you’ll want to stop in at The Solvang Bakery, best known for sales of its TUB of Danish delights. Just don’t overindulge in bringing back too many of these as you might risk exceeding your max gross takeoff weights!
Following our exploration of Solvang we will head back towards the airport, BUT, two minutes from the airport is the famous Chumash Indian Casino. As an option we can stop by for an hour or so and try our luck on a slot machine or at a hand of the table games. Again, this is optional!
Lastly we will make our short trek from there back to the airport for the flight home.
In years past, as I have been informed, this has been a very successful fly in and with decent October weather promises to be as equally successful.
